Who is Oyi Sands?
A – Oyi Sands is an Abstract Surrealist and many other things.
I would describe your art as directional, monochromatic and geometrical how would you describe it?
I would say the same thing honestly. I will also add that my art is “dreamlike” and inventive, in its own way.
How do you make your art? digitally or hand drawn? and what tools do you use to make these beauties?
Mostly Digital but both. I also create using traditional tools sometimes.
The audience is curious about your relationship with color. Is your use of black and white a sort of signature move as an artist? And do you see yourself experimenting with more colors in the future?
Well is a sort of signature. An unplanned one at that but it is. Also, I already do experiment with colors but not in a way that I consider them to be my official work but in a way that “supports” my usual black and white art.
I find using colors as my getaway from the usual, and I do enjoy it whenever I do, but I still find my way to black and white.
Oyi Sands
Oyi Sands, an abstract surrealist whose work predominantly features a monochrome palette that explores themes surrounding alternate realities and imaginative, distorted landscapes. She often refers to herself as a “line artist” as her style is mainly characterized by the use of lines in various forms.
While her work is filled with imaginative elements, she employs these elements to address subjects such as mental health, social or political issues and the human experience from her perspective. Her style is defined by visual narratives intended to challenge conventional perceptions of art or its perceived boundaries.
When she is not focused on creating abstract or surreal pieces, Oyi enjoys designing, spending time with friends and interacting with her environment.
