Agbowo X – Get Our African Literary and Art Magazine

At Agbowó (www.agbowo.org), we are bristling with excitement about our new electronic magazine. Christened “X”, it is a maiden issue, which has been in the mill and offing for some time. We are very certain you’ll like it as much as we do.

Agbowo X Magazine African Art Literary Art Visual Art

“X” is a gorgeous-looking collection of art in various forms, ranging from poetry to prose, from fiction to non-fiction, from interviews to visual art. All entries are birthed from the minds of creative sons and daughters of Africa. The shower of visual art and symbolic works of painting from the cover through all 91 pages especially gives this magazine a unique, sublime taste. We know it is an awesome invention, first in a series of many more to come. But don’t take our word for it; we have attached it here for your personal and professional evaluation.

X is for indeterminacy. The works of literature in this issue were not selected based on any unifying theme. There are essays about food, language and the spate of the current crop of the literary elite. There are poems about love, for sure, about the religious and about addiction. The stories are just as divergent. What, however, makes this issue into an organic unit is the sprinkling of visual art which perform an adhesive function at several parts of this work.

X also contains interviews with the seven contributing visual artists. In these interviews, with Sheyi Owolabi, Agbowó’s photography editor, the artists hold nothing back. They respond as though they’ve waited for an indeterminate amount of time to be asked those questions. These along with the art represent the new content that this Issue brings to avid Agbowó readers as the literary work herein have already been featured, over the first one year of our existence, on the website — agbowo.org.
